The aim is to motivate and inspire your regular drawing practice. For the month of July, we will do a quick drawing everyday, based on a daily prompt (read or download PDF below). This is a free challenge and I hope you post your drawings on our instagram or facebook! Scroll down for links below.
To join the community, please use the hashtag #creativeway30days and tag me @creativewayaustralia when you post. Tell us about your drawing; what is the story behind it? Feel free to post comments of encouragement for each other!
Please contact Kell at info@creativeway.com.au if you cannot find an answer to your question.
I have suggested 20 minutes per drawing as the aim is to get a regular practice going and not over think this. Think about your drawing process rather than trying to create a perfect drawing.
Photos are a last resort! I encourage you to draw from your real life environment. Apart from building great drawing and observation skills of real 3D form, texture and light, it is a reminder that art making can happen away from screens and technology. I also encourage you to draw things that you know personally.
Absolutely not! I encourage you to be as creative as possible; the simple prompts are just a starting point, which I hope you will interpret however you like. Feel free to add more objects or ideas to your composition. Celebrate your unique style!
Use whatever is in the home! A sketchbook would be great, but otherwise use whatever is at hand. In terms of drawing; choose your favourites - graphite, charcoal, coloured pencil, ink, gouache, watercolour, biro etc! Challenge yourself to experiment.
No, you don't. There is no pressure here, whatsoever. Just do what is comfortable for you. Join the facebook community (creativewaycommunity) or the instagram #creativeway30days and post a drawing when you are ready. Having said that, it is really inspiring and motivating to feel the expectation and encouragement of an art group! All you need to do is show up.
That is totally fine! Just come back and continue drawing when you can. It is ok to do a late or catch up post on a different day to everyone else. The aim is to hang in there and keep drawing.
That is totally fine, could you go to a friend's house or a local garden to draw. Some of the drawing prompts could be done in a cafe or botanical garden. As for birds; which birds are local to your area - you might need a photo for this prompt!
This is a free drawing challenge to encourage participation! The aim is to take the pressure off and draw for a month with a group of people, in our homes. Creativeway celebrates the simple life and the domestic space as a rich source of inspiration and nourishment. Enjoy!
Absolutely! I am going to follow the prompts and post everyday to demonstrate a variety of styles and mediums. I would love to read your comments and questions.
